Frequently asked questions

Can an app change my iPhone wallpaper automatically?

Not directly. iOS doesn't let any App Store app set your wallpaper for you. DailyThemes saves wallpapers to Photos and shows you where to tap, so setting one takes seconds. For a hands-free change every day, the app keeps a “DailyThemes Shuffle” album in Photos, and a one-time automation in Apple's Shortcuts app picks a random wallpaper from it each morning. Is DailyThemes free?

Yes. DailyThemes is free to download. Every day's Daily Drop wallpaper is free for 24 hours, and many wallpapers, widgets and themes are free to keep. DailyThemes Pro is an optional monthly or yearly subscription that unlocks every premium wallpaper, widget, theme and icon pack, 4K export in the Maker and missed advent doors. A free trial is available on the yearly plan.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. DailyThemes runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 and later. On iPad you also get extra large Home Screen widgets and wallpapers framed for the iPad screen, and your preferences sync between devices through iCloud. More on iPad.

How do I add widgets to my Home Screen?

Design or pick a widget in DailyThemes first. Then touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen, tap + (or Edit ▸ Add Widget), search for DailyThemes, choose a size and tap Add Widget. Touch and hold the widget and choose Edit Widget to pick which design it shows. Full widget guide.

How do Lock Screen widgets work?

Touch and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, then Lock Screen. Tap the widget row under the clock (or the date line for an inline widget) and add a DailyThemes widget. The row fits four circular widgets; a rectangular widget takes two slots. Lock Screen widget guide.

How do custom app icons work?

iOS changes app icons through Apple's Shortcuts app. DailyThemes guides you one app at a time: each icon becomes a shortcut that opens the app, you add it to your Home Screen with the new icon, then remove the original from the Home Screen (not delete it) so it stays in App Library. Are live wallpapers supported on my iPhone?

DailyThemes saves live wallpapers to Photos as Live Photos. Set one from Photos with Share ▸ Use as Wallpaper and keep Live on: the motion plays each time you wake your iPhone. Low Power Mode pauses motion and shows the still frame. About live wallpapers.

What is the Daily Drop?

A new wallpaper every day, free for 24 hours. Save it to your Library to keep it. You can turn on an optional morning notification at 9:00 with a “Save to Library” button, or leave notifications off entirely.

What is The Season?

The Season is a December advent calendar inside DailyThemes: 24 daily doors, each with a new wallpaper, plus a streak, points and a reward track, and a Christmas Morning bonus wallpaper on December 25. Today's door is always free. See The Season.

Do I need an account? What data do you collect?

No account is needed, and DailyThemes doesn't track you across apps or show ads. Health, Photos and Calendar data are read on your device and never uploaded. Anonymous analytics are off unless you opt in. Read the privacy policy.

Can I make my own live wallpaper?

Yes. The Maker turns videos, Live Photos or photos into a live wallpaper: trim, add effects and a soundtrack, then export in 1080p for free or 4K with Pro. How the Maker works.
